  Why Don't Conservatives Take the Lead in Technology?

  why is there constant criticism about "liberals" driving new technology?

  web sites, social platforms, etc.

  if the us is relatively evenly divided, why do all "new" things seem to come from the liberal side?

  A brother in the cong that threw me out used to work with Bell Labs in USA. He was part of the team that put together the original Microsoft DOS.

  He had Scottish ancestry and explained to me that many of the technologies that had brought about the modern world had been developed by the Scots.

  On the min one day he told me why my computer crashes - Microsoft hadn't got the maths right, therefore every so often, whoomph the stage on which all the actors are playing collapses. I wish I could speak to him today and point to Dan 1:1 and say "why has the WT got it's maths wrong and said the 3rd year of Jehoiakim's rulership is the 11th? And why does it say the 19th year of Nebuchadnezzar is followed by his 2nd year?"

  she knows about the australian royal commision, the united nations, failed prediction dates etc...., i have crisis of consciene and she know, it is visiable that she could see the book everyday.

  Another thought - am watching a man blowing the dust of his apostate gun to fire it a man of great integrity. Just wondering if the one holding the apostate gun is on anti-depressants. When you have to do stuff that makes your conscience uncomfortable, tablets can ease the discomfort.

  What responsibility do professionals who support this kind of activity with prescription drugs have? Can we get reparations for the damage done to our lives through inapporpirate prescriptions to elders?

  Ok I'm not holding my breath and I ain't going out rioting. But how can someone learn how bad their hateful actions are when Mr G P Pharmacy is feeding them Prozac?

  It's their lucky rabbit paw. They are superstitious not rational. They don't read the Bible so as to get the sense of it. Therefore, only when something affects them personally is there any hope of them leaving.

  I have know at least 2 elders get jumped on by the other elders for blowing the whistle on child abuse. One of them died with his boots on, the other is being gently encouraged to walk away from the cult. Will he? Wont he? Place your bets.
  

  I know one who, as a youth was taken through their baptism questions by at least two paedophiles. Rest assured the whole family remains in.

  The likes of me get thrown out because I know the organsation is blaspheming and that is matter of serious concern to me. But not to them. They consider Jehovah to be a liar but let Lett be true. Of course they never say it like that and if you said it to them they'd say, "how long have you felt like this? May I encourage you to speak to the elders about this."

  Is Silent Lambs and Bill Bowen still relevant?

  when i joined this forum in 2004, silent lambs was a very important venue for those who suffered the crime of child abuse in the jehovah's witness religion.

  bill bowen was instrumental in exposing a lot of the cover up along with barbara anderson.

  i was wondering if silent lambs is still relevant and does it still help abuse victims?.

  i propose that we destroy all these bottles of syrups and burn every pancake box !

  we need to get rid of anything that reminds us of anything negative concerning slavery.. in boston they decapitated the head of christopher columbus and got rid of his statue.

  Liberal can mean freedom - such as when Jesus said, "you'll know the truth and the true will set you free."

  But liberal can also mean libertine.

  The meaning of the word 'liberal' can be subject to semantic shift. Ie the meaning shifts according to who the audience is and how they are receiving/interpreting the info from the human transmittor (so to speak).

  Phoenixrising - what you are describing sounds like drugs culture. I say that because I used to work for a social housing organisation which dealt with vulnerable ones.

  The vulnerable ones in my area had often suffered from bad parenting and were being supported to get a job and learn how to budget. Their accommodation was paid for and they usually lived in a massive house with some others.

  A few would respond really well to this kind of support. But another few would make life in the accommodation impossible for everyone. They were the drug users who would bring their dealers round and wreck the place.

  I remember hearing one of the carers say of the wreckers - "mentally they put themselves in a place where you cannot help them."

  Removing Historic Monuments and Statues - Does the Term "Historical" Make it Right or Wrong?

  after further review and thought, i really don't see how removing a monument or statue that may be truly offensive to a large group of people is in some way rewriting history.. i think of germany or other parts of europe.

  you don't see swastikas on buildings or statues of hitler or mussolini or other upper level generals in public.

  would it be good for a person (think jewish) to drive around a city and see hitler in a public park, even though it is "historical?

  Nazis believed in eugenics - but what is anti-semitism?

  The reason I make this point is because I know religious people who frame negative comments about their religion as racist.

  Racism is about skin colour.

  Skin colour does not equal behavior.

  Skin colour does not equal whether or not your behaviour is Christian or non Christian. Whether you treat others as you would like to be treated or not.

  I can't imagine Jesus putting up a monument. Nor can I imagine him taking one down, unless it was an idol.

  You don't need monuments for history. You need memory.

  There is a statue I have always seen. Never knew who he was until recently. Knowing a bit about the history of where you live is interesting. But the most notable thing about this statue was that students would regularly stick a traffic cone on it. Then sadly there was an accident and a student fell off. For a short time, there were flowers around the statue. Then there were no more flowers. I suppose the students of that year left. But I wonder if they remember their friend, whose life was cut short for messing around on a statue.

  How about getting those who constructed Machu Pichu to make reparations? Wasn't that built using slavery? But if you look on Quora it wasn't slavery. According to academics slavery is a relatively new concept. Machu Pichu was built using forced labour with a blood bond. Does that mean human sacrifice? Does that mean they condoned murder? Wonder how the slavery of the Israelites in Egypt would get redefined? If the pyramids were built using slave labour, what would the ramifications of that be?
  

  That’s a tricky question since slavery is a concept introduced into the Americas with the arrival of the Europeans. Inca’s empire had a social structure a lot different than European empires.

  For this instance, Mita was the Quechuan name for reffering to forced labor, it required a blood bond between the Inca elite and the Ayllu, a community who paid for militar protection, redistribution of food, new technology, among others with Mita and some of their goods.

  So, it makes sense that Machu Picchu was build through forced labor, but it wasn’t slavery as we conceive it right now.
